Aaron first entered the consulting field in 1999 as a Mechanical Technologist. In the ensuing years he has worked for mechanical consulting firms in Calgary, Langley and Nanaimo, developing his career through working on numerous hospital, elementary and secondary school, post-secondary, large and small commercial, recreational, industrial and residential projects.
In 2005, Aaron joined Rocky Point Engineering as a Project Manager, continued on to become a Principal in 2011 and currently manages Rocky Point’s Nanaimo Office. He has a wide range of experience with a focus on providing high efficiency yet practical mechanical system designs working in an integrative approach with project teams and fitting within the framework of the client’s economical target and vision for the project.
In recent years Aaron has developed a strong interest in environmental and sustainability issues, and has assisted in moving projects toward greater sustainable design practices. He became a LEED accredited professional in 2007 and has designed and participated in overseeing construction of mechanical systems incorporating hybrid mechanical-natural ventilation systems, high efficiency heating/cooling plant and terminal unit design with geothermal options, storm water retention and low water consumption buildings. He has personally been involved in the project design of numerous buildings on Vancouver Island that have attained LEED certification.
Darcy Pederson
Darcy started with Rocky Point Engineering as a Mechanical Designer in February 2011 after finishing his co-op mechanical engineering degree at the University of Victoria. He received LEED® accreditation in 2014 and his P.Eng. license in 2015.
Throughout his time at Rocky Point Engineering he has worked on a range of diverse of projects from small commercial and residential to large commercial, LEED, healthcare, education and industrial projects.
Darcy’s main focus on a project is to deliver a high-quality system that meets all owner requirements while staying on budget to ensure a successful project from start to finish. Optimizing systems of any size is a primary goal that always provides a challenge to ensure the client is receiving the most “bang for their buck.”
Darcy’s involvement in projects include cost estimating, reports and studies, schematic design, detailed design, HVAC load calculations, HVAC design, plumbing design, energy modelling, drafting and 3D modelling, construction administration, construction inspections, and commissioning.
He believes that a system on paper is only as good as its construction and commissioning and that a hands-on approach is paramount to ensure it is constructed and set-up to operate at its maximum potential.
