The new 2,600 sq metre project is a one-storey addition to expand the existing Emergency Department, aiding in facilitation access to critical care for the community. The new facility houses two new emergency resuscitation rooms, a decontamination area, airborne isolation rooms, flexible Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) zone. Additionally the new emergency department has increased the total number of patient treatment bays, and provides for a separate pediatric and waiting area for children.

RPE worked to develop the mechanical, plumbing, medical gas services, and fire protection design. This is a new standalone building, east of the current North Tower and adjacent to the existing Emergency Department.
