Rocky Point Engineering was engaged by the Town of Port McNeill to review the condition of the mechanical systems for the local Outdoor Pool and provide a high level overview and recommendations for replacement and upgrade of pool mechanical systems that would improve operating efficiency, provide redundancy for ease of maintenance and serviceability, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
On completion of the Mechanical Systems Assessment in January 2020, RPE were retained to complete the mechanical upgrade. This included replacement/upgrade of boilers, heat exchanger, expansion tanks, standby circulation pump, water heaters, pool filters, chemical treatment systems and DDC controls. Additional connection to arena heat rejection system in adjacent field with new piping to pool mechanical room with new make-up water heat exchanger and consideration for waterwater heat pumps was also implemented.
