This project consists of renovations to existing OR birthing spaces within the Level 2 of Building D at Surrey Memorial Hospital. A new OR is being built in the Family Birthing Unit (FBU) within the old NICU area. This expansion will create a large Operating Room to support the existing FBU.

The new Operating Room will be required to have all new ventilation, plumbing and fire protection services to CSA Z317.2 and Z317.1 Standards. It is anticipated that potentially new mechanical infrastructure upgrade will be required for this project as the existing AHU serving this part of the building is taxed and at its maximum capacity. We provided a mechanical infrastructure assessment and report which determined that is additional scope of work was required for the mechanical system to accommodate the FBU-OR expansion.
