Mechanical Drafter/Designer – Smithers, BC

Description

The successful candidate will be technically proficient with respect to working with computer-based design software (CAD, Excel, etc.) and an interest in developing a career in plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical design. Education or experience specific to building mechanical system design would be an asset.

We are looking to obtain an enthusiastic, talented and professional team player. The applicant must be detail-oriented, love challenges and enjoy contributing to the success of the team in a progressive work environment.

Compensation:

Compensation levels will be based on relevant experience, experience level, relevant skills, professional qualifications, role and responsibilities and will be in the range of $60,000 to $90,000 per Annum.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Provide drafting and basic mechanical design with oversight from a P.Eng. or EIT.
  • Design calculations related to plumbing and mechanical system design.
  • Production of AutoCAD and/or Revit and mechanical drafts/drawings.
  • Selection and sizing of plumbing and mechanical equipment with oversight from an engineer.
  • Onsite investigation of existing systems for coordination and design.
  • Perform various other duties as assigned by the manager or team leader
Skills/Qualifications
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Microsoft Excel and Word experience.
  • BIM/Revit experience in plumbing and HVAC modelling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Systems.
  • Experience working with Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical drawings.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines.
  • Design team leadership experience would be an asset.
  • Site related experience at field reviews.
  • Ability to deal with site related construction correspondence such as answering RFI’s and issuing of site instructions.
  • Experience in client management and quality control procedures.
  • Experience in public and private sector project design in various market sectors.
  • Construction experience with building mechanical systems (plumbing, fire protection, or HVAC).
