RPE were retained to remove and replace the existing Dust Collector with one of sufficient capacity to serve the school shop. Diversity was brought into the design for teacher only equipment, with a set of automated gates and electrical interlocks on the equipment.
Project Scope
Our design for this project included the addition of critical safety components in compliance with the requirements of NFPA 664 “Standard for the Prevention of Fires and Explosions in Wood Processing and Woodworking Facilities”. We completed an upgrade of the existing system to meet the ventilation requirements of ACGIH Industrial Ventilation manual, with re-use of existing components where feasible and practical. The scope of our work included:
- Dust Collector Replacement;
- New Make Up Air unit for dust collector to maintain building;
- Pressurization connected to existing boiler with a new zone circulator;
- New Dust collection ductwork update and dust collection hoods including grounding;
- Addition of a deflagration deflector to protect area around back of school.
