The new $60M Centennial Secondary School replacement focuses on 21st Century Learning, incorporating and visibly demonstrating sustainable de-sign concepts. It can accommodate 1,250 students, and features a library, amphitheatre, teaching kitchen, metal-shops, automotive and carpentry shops, as well as a 220 seat theatre.
Rocky Point provided design of the plumbing and mechanical systems for the project, which includes:
- State-of-the-art mechanical system featuring active chilled beam technology, dedicated heat recovery chiller plant, air side heat recovery and demand control ventilation exhaust systems.
- A central heating/cooling plant which services both sides of the building and crosses the trans mountain pipeline which divides the site.
- Mechanical systems which consist of a roof mounted air source heat pump with building in heat recovery and a high efficiency boiler plant.
- A ventilation system for the classrooms consists of individual unit ventilators with active chilled beam technology and variable flow air delivery with CO2 demand ventilation control.
